Having the device turned on in bedroom is not viable, it's too bright and the flashing purple pattern is totally not welcome in my case. I get the point that I'm supposed to react but I don't consider it such a severe issue that I'm not allowed to go to sleep or stay asleep in case it shoots over 1200 right near my head where I breathe and where it's plugged in.

An example of alternative is Ikea Alpstruga, which (always) has diffuse white light digits, and indicates bad CO2 concentration by lighting a red dot.
